18 February 2021 Update
Dear Fynbos Forum/MEDECOS community,
We hope that you are doing well and would like to take this opportunity to again thank you for expressing an interest in the MEDECOS 2021 conference. After careful consideration and in light of the ongoing uncertainty regarding the global COVID-19 pandemic and the vaccine roll-out in South Africa, the organising committee has taken the decision to again reschedule the conference to 2022. We apologise for any inconvenience caused in this regard and hope that you will understand the need to respect the health and safety of all stakeholders involved.
The MEDECOS Organising Committee will be announcing when we will be accepting abstracts for MEDECOS2022, and you will be notified once the call for abstracts will be open. Please do not make any travel or accommodation arrangements at this stage and await further instruction from our side about the conference. Should you have any enquiries, please contact Mrs Madaleen Schultheiss at Vetlink (conferences@vetlink.co.za).
We will be communicating any further updates via the conference website and/or by providing email updates to all delegates.
Thank you for your patience and understanding in this regard.
Sincerely,
The MEDECOS2022 Conference Organisers

THEME: Partnerships for Global Change
MEDECOS is an international conference organised under the auspices of ISOMED, the International Society of Mediterranean Ecology. ISOMED promotes research and education to advance the understanding and conservation of the world’s five regions with Mediterranean-type climate regimes, all of which are recognized as globally significant hotspots of biodiversity.
The MEDECOS conferences focus on the ecology and evolution of Mediterranean ecosystems and their species. By uniting scientists and students whose research centres on Mediterranean-climate ecosystems, participants gain insights into the similarities and differences in how these ecosystems function, change and evolve. The FYNBOS FORUM is a local affiliation of researchers, planners, manager, landowners and other stakeholders that meets annually to discuss management issues and research results and to formulate priorities for future research and conservation management actions required to ensure the conservation and sustainability of Fynbos ecosystems.
In 2021, the FYNBOS FORUM will combine with MEDECOS to host MEDECOS 2021/ FYNBOS FORUM 2021.
